I'm a Visitor / FAQs

St Andrews ChurchAre you planning to join us this weekend?  In case you're a little nervous about trying a new church, we've tried to put ourselves in your shoes and asked some basic questions:

What times are your services?

Sunday mornings at 8:00am and 10:00am, evening service at 5:00pm

How long is the service?

About an hour

Can I bring friends?
Of course!

What should I wear?
We don't have a dress code; we want you to be comfortable.  Want to break out your Easter finest and put your kids in spring dress up clothes?  Have at it!  Want to wear something more casual?  That's fine too.  You'll see a wide variety of clothing choices at St. Andrew’s; we try not to focus on that.  Trust us, you'll be fine.

Do I need to do anything different if this is my first time at St. Andrew’s?
No, just come along.  There will be several greeters at each of the doors to welcome you and direct you in case you need help finding the nursery drop off, coat rack or restrooms.

What can I expect to happen during the service?
We give you a cheat sheet as soon as you walk in!  When you enter church you will be handed the day’s bulletin, which walks you through every step of the service. The order of service is really easy to follow, but don’t worry – nobody will mind if you don’t know when to stand, sit or sing!

Do I have to give money?
No. Our ushers will take up an offering during the service, but that is not a request for money.  Our regular attenders participate in that part of our service, and see this act of giving back to God as worship.  Please don't feel any pressure at all to participate (no one's taking notes, promise!)

What do I do with my kids during the service?
Bring your elementary-aged kids to Sunday School at 9:15 for a special Easter celebration.  During the 10:15 family service, children are invited to participate in Children’s Chapel, a worship service designed especially for them.  You may bring your youngest kiddos (birth - Pre-K) to the nursery during service. If you choose to put your child(ren) in the nursery, please make plans to come a few minutes early in order to have enough time to register them and get them settled.  (Don't know where it is?  Ask any greeter as you come in the main doors; they'll point you in the right direction!)

What if I have questions while I'm there?
Stop by the information table in the middle of the lobby.  Our volunteers are ready to help.  They can give you some information that tells you more about St. Andrew’s, answer specific questions, or point you to the nearest bathroom, if that's what you need!

What about parking?
If the primary church lot is full, you can find on-street parking.  If you are visiting St. A’s for the first time, try to snag one of our eight visitor-reserved spaces!

Can I come to your church on Easter even if I don't plan on coming regularly after that?
Absolutely.  No strings attached.

Do I participate in Communion?
Communion is open; you don’t have to be an Episcopalian or a member of St. Andrew’s. We hope you’ll take part!

How Do I Learn More and Get Involved?
Join us for Newcomers’ Brunch and Discovery 101 each fall and spring!  Newcomers’ Brunch gives you a quick introduction to the St. Andrew’s family.  Discovery 101 is a six-week opportunity to build connections and learn how Episcopalians worship, what we believe, where we’ve come from, and what God calls us to do.  This fall, Newcomers’ Brunch is Sunday, Sept. 10, after the 10:15 a.m. service, and Discovery 101 is on Thursday evenings, Sept. 14 through Oct. 19.  In the spring of 2018, Newcomers’ Brunch will be Sunday, Feb. 11, after the 10:15 a.m. service, and Discovery 101 will happen on Thursday evenings in Lent, Feb. 15 through March 22.  For more information or to register, contact Mike McKinne, engagement coordinator, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You know, it's pretty easy.  People who try out St.  Andrew’s often comment how wonderful their experience was. We have coffee and treats in the Jewell Room, friendly people all around and a life-wide faith message communicated through song and Scripture.  We don't see each other as visitors or members, insiders or outsiders; we're all there for the same reason, to grow closer to God.  We value every person's story and respect where they are in their faith.  We believe that God can meet us in many ways, and one of those is at St. Andrew’s.  We wholeheartedly welcome you to join with us.

If you have any questions about Easter services or St. Andrew’s, please call our church office at 816.523.1602 during office hours.
