Saint Andrew’s offers an outstanding Vacation Bible School program every summer in July. More than 100 children from Saint Andrew’s, as well as the community, come to celebrate and rejoice in God’s love. Children participate in many activities, such as crafts, games, Bible stories, and making their own snacks. The highlight of the day for most kids is when they come together to dance and sing upbeat, energetic songs that teach about God.

The High Seas Expedition:
Exploring the Mighty Love of God

July 12-16, from 9am to 12pm, over 100 children and MANY volunteers set sail for VBS fun on the HIGH SEAS where we explored the mighty love of God! We had a swashbuckling adventure through God’s Word and discovered that God shows his powerful love throughout Scripture. Together, we all discovered that God is active in our lives and that his fingerprints are everywhere!

Here's a note from Glenda, our High Seas Captain:

After I left VBS on Friday, I went to eat Chinese food.  I was writing notes of evaluation on VBS, then opened my fortune cookie.  It said, “Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such.”  At that moment I began to recognize how God had touched the lives of many people all week long.  Even though we had a few storms at sea, the kids only saw the sonshine. Praise God that many said “Yes” to Jesus, I want to serve and follow you.  That is the “golden moment”.

Other golden moments were the collection of kid socks and underwear for Rosie’s Closet.  The kids set the goal of 100 pairs of socks and 100 pair of underwear.  We far exceeded our goal of 159 pairs of socks and 132 pair of underwear!  Thanks for your generosity.

Another golden moment was all the volunteers that said yes to making VBS happen! I’m afraid if I listed everyone, I would miss someone.  But I would like to give honorable mention to a few that went the extra mile: Jessica Fisher for decorations, Jean Long for assisting me with details, June Jordan for her artistic ability and hospitality, Emily Davenport for all her signs, leading music and dance, taking pictures everyday and missing a day of vacation to be here for the closing, and Connie Smart for snacks. We also received many food donations. Thank you all!!

Crocodile Dock:
Where Fearless Kids Shine God’s Light

St. Andrew’s 2009 Vacation Bible School was another huge success!

This dock ROCKED July 13-17, as one hundred and thirty children (which is our limit) as well as many volunteers travelled all along the Crocodile Dock learning about God, making new friends, and going on adventures (as well as a bit of wishful croc-catching with Mrs. Jean!)

Pictures from the FUN we had are posted here!
