One of the seven sacraments, Confirmation is the next step of renewing your baptismal vows and taking the responsibility of those vows in an adult manner.

Confirmation Class 2009

Confirmation 2010

2010 Confirmation classes, which are for 8th and 9th graders, were held January - March, and began with a kickoff meeting for both candidates and their parents, where all learned a little more about confirmation: what it means, the responsibility of the commitment, what the classes are actually about. Confirmation classes are for 8th and 9th grade students. On May 23, 2010, we were blessed to have these youth and adults who were confirmed, received or reaffirmed: Peter Andresen, Sara Benson, Helga Beuing, Gwen Caranchini, Jack Dussold, David Heddens, Carol Hefner, Martha Lally, Katie Leonard, Peter Milledge, Sondra Muelle, Hunter Redmond, Lucas Rezabek-Laird, Magdalena Moore,  Jean Rademacher, Ellie Smart, Tucker Sutton, Teddy Thum and Ellie Waugh.

Confirmation 2009

St. Andrew’s is blessed to have confirmed these 18 men and women Sunday, May 31, 2009 into the Episcopal Church: Joel Anderson, Taylor Beaham, Will Cray, Parker Johnson, Bucky Kessinger, Anne Lloyd, Jack Longan, Max McCallister, Eliza McCormick, Carter Olander, Irina Pogosova, Emma Robertson, Alex Samuel, Jack Sayler, Hannah Satterlee, Peter Shelton, Kathryn Spicer and Christopher Watkins. Another member of this year’s class, Morgan Satterlee, was confirmed earlier at St. Anne’s in Lee’s Summit.

We also had mentors for our Confirmands, who met regularly outside of class. A special thank you goes to Northscott Grounsell, Brad Honnold, June Jordan, Sean Kim, Lisa Kiene, Helen Meyer and Pete Vogt for volunteering to be our first generation of Confirmation mentors.

All of the baptismal vows were discussed in length during the spring classes. Jack Longan learned in class that “the Lord is always with you in Spirit”, while Parker Johnson learned about the difference creeds we use in service, while Emma Robertson learned the “God will always forgive you, no matter what you do”.
