To young people who may not always feel that they have a place where they can fit in and be safe, we say: Welcome! We have a place for you at Saint Andrew’s.
The aim of our program for people in grades 6-12 is to nurture and educate youth along their Christian journey. We nurture young people inthe rich tradition of Episcopal worship, but we also give them a safe place where they can explore their own spirituality and find the road where God is leading them. The result is a strong Youth Group experience, deep connection with other young people and adult mentors, and the support of a congregation that truly treasures its youth.

HJ’s Wish List:
I am moving forward with HJ’s Wish List. Currently, I am determining how much paint we will need for HJs and where the best discount can be found. It looks like Sherwin Williams is the best option for paint since we have a discount, but I need to know which paint colors we need so you need to submit the Theme Proposals ASAP!! We will have a shopping day sometime in September, and start picking up all the cool new items designated for the youth building.

Sunday Evenings, 5-6pm, HJ’s main room
The Main Event! Every Sunday evening we gather together to play games, catch up on pop-culture, sing praise to God, and be challenged by the Word. Come ready to have a good time, meet new people, and explore our relationship with God.
Teen Prayer Room
The St. Andrew's Youth Group created a worship space at HJ's, the youth center across the street from the main church building. The youth brainstormed together about the purpose and design of the room and then gathered the materials to build this now sacred space. Many Youth Group families donated paint, furniture and other items that were on the "Wish List" for this project. Father Mann initiated the use of the room with a special blessing.
The Teen Prayer Room has an altar, a kneeler, an art response area, bean bags, a small waterfall, resource books, bibles and candles. The beautiful wooden cross on our altar was designed and created by one of our youth, Thomas Cranor. There is a "Scripture, Quotes and Wisdom" board where youth can share things to inspire one another. There is also "Prayer Request Wall" where youth may post prayer requests.
Youth are encouraged to donate things to this space to continue to make it their own. Many youth plan to find crosses on their travels and bring them back to HJ's for our wall of crosses. We cannot wait to see how this room will continue to change and flourish.
The Prayer Room Commandments
1. There shall only be one person at a time in the Prayer Room. 2. Thou shall keep the room clean. 3. There shall be no loud disturbances. 4. There shall be no electronics. 5. Thou shall always close the door. 6. Thou shall be respectful of the room. 7. There shall be no food or drink. 8. What is in the room will stay there. 9. The room shall only be used for prayer. 10. Thou shall follow the real Ten Commandments.
Written collectively by the youth to ensure that this space be used prayerfully at all times.
In March 2008, Youth Group members joined together to paint icons on ceiling tiles of our Prayer Room. Each youth was encouraged to capture what was important to him or her... see our beautiful results!
