DESCRIPTION:SUNDAY SCHOOL SINGERS\n\nSunday\, September 14 @ 10:00-10:20 AM – In the Undercroft\n\nAll Children attending Sunday are welcome to join in. The singers will be lead by Patrick Graham\, a well-known music educator and artist in KC will be leading the Sunday School Singers. Patrick has been praised for his “vocal strength” and “beautiful tone.” Currently Patrick is a Baritone in The Kansas City Chorale; and Baritone Section Leader at St. Andrew’s (his son was recently baptized at St. Andrew’s). Patrick most recently was the Director at First Act Theatre Arts in Overland Park\, a non-profit that offers high quality music and theatrical training for students ages 8-18. His work is focused on creating opportunities for accessible and intersectional arts education. As a director\, performer\, and musician\, he seeks to create art that is thought-provoking\, intelligent\, and innovative. We look forward to hearing Patrick’s work as he leads our children in songs of praise!

DESCRIPTION:Fall Climate Conference\n“Faithful Responses to Climate Change”*\nSeptember 20\, 2025\nREGISTER HERE \nIn-person registration deadline is September 12.\nVirtual registration is open until September 20. \nIf you have trouble registering for the conference\, please contact Ruth Rosell at rrosell@cbts.edu\n\n\n\nThis one-day in-person conference in the Kansas City area\, will be focused on educating\, inspiring\, and connecting congregations and people of faith for responding to the challenges of climate change. Keynote speakers from both theological and scientific perspectives will speak to the urgency of addressing climate change\, the impacts it is already having\, the theological and ethical questions it raises\, and the ways to faithfully respond that will have an impact. Dr. Cynthia Moe-Lobeda is Professor of Theological and Social Ethics at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary (PTLS) and Church Divinity School of the Pacific. The Rev. Dr. Jessica Moerman is a climate and environmental scientist with a Ph.D. in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and serves as the President and CEO of the Evangelical Environmental Network. Parts of the conference will be livestreamed.

DESCRIPTION:St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church is delighted to welcome Dr. Nathaniel Gumbs\, Organist of Riverside Church in New York City\, for a concert on Tuesday\, September 23\, at 7 p.m. A native of The Bronx\, Dr. Gumbs has performed widely throughout the United States and internationally—in Antigua\, St. Thomas\, Ghana\, Paris\, and Munich—earning recognition as a dynamic artist who continually attracts new audiences. He currently serves as Director of Chapel Music at Yale University\, coordinating music for three worshiping communities\, and has previously led music ministries at the historic Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte\, NC. Dr. Gumbs studied at Shenandoah Conservatory\, Yale University\, and the Eastman School of Music\, where his principal teachers included Steven Cooksey\, David Higgs\, and Martin Jean. A contributing composer and recording artist\, he recently released his first solo organ album\, King of Kings: Organ Music of Black Composers\, Past and Present.
