Meet Us

The Rev. John Spicer

Fr. John came to St. Andrew’s in 2005 as assistant rector. In 2011, he became priest-in-charge and was called as rector in 2012. He and his wife, Ann, have two grown children, Kathryn and Dan. Fr. John loves writing and is the author of the book Beating the Boundaries: The Church God is Calling Us to Be. He believes passionately in the church’s call to mission, whether in our Brookside/Waldo neighborhood or with our partners in Haiti. In his spare time, Fr. John enjoys going to the movies with Ann.

The Rev. Anne Hutcherson

Associate Rector

Mtr. Anne came to us in 2007, following ordination and a career traveling the world before unexpectedly landing in seminary. She has served as Associate Rector for much of her 10 years with us before taking retirement a bit more seriously and now is serving part-time. She continues some liturgical presence but is focused on her primary passion, pastoral care. Mtr. Anne is married to retired Episcopal priest, Robert, and “mothers” a black lab and 3 cats!

The Rev. Jeff Stevenson

Assistant Rector

Fr. Jeff joined the St. Andrew’s team in July 2018. He and his husband, Noah, came to us from the Washington, D.C., area. Fr. Jeff graduated from the Virginia Theological Seminary after a long-deferred sense of call to the priesthood. This is a third career for Fr. Jeff. Both his previous careers – first in the Navy and then as national security consultant – took him around the world. He has a passion for engaging with people and meaningful liturgy, so it’s perfect that his responsibilities focus on pastoral care and worship. Fr. Jeff’s hobby is collecting hobbies, everything from knitting to off-roading.

The Ven. Bruce Bower

Deacon Bruce and his wife, Joy, have been members of St. Andrew's for over three decades. Once retired, Bruce pursued a calling to the diaconate and became ordained in 2014. He was assigned to serve at St. Andrew's to develop servant leaders and to pursue his passion for pastoral care ministries...bringing lay ministers into relationship with people in need of God's grace during times of challenge. He is also focused on bringing joy to worship. In 2016, Bishop Field appointed Bruce as archdeacon of the Diocese of West Missouri. His ministry also includes being pastoral leader of all the deacons in our diocese and representing them at the national church level.
