Music Ministry
Music is an integral part of St. Andrew’s worship and parish life and we are blessed with one of the finest vocal ensembles in Kansas City.
Get Involved!
Parish Choir
St. Andrew’s Parish Choir sings at the 10 a.m. Eucharist throughout the year. Members give of their time and talents through the attendance at rehearsals, Wednesday, 7-8 p.m., September-April, and other festival services as scheduled (i.e., Christmas Eve, Holy Week, etc). This is fulfilled with an understanding – if you are in KC, you are at St. Andrew’s to lead music in worship. Because of this commitment, St. Andrew’s is known for having excellent and exciting ensembles. An informal interview audition with you and a staff singer, singing with you, is required. An interview audition includes singing a hymn or two to determine vocal range, and an anthem to discern if your reading skills are aligned to have a successful ministry experience in the Parish Choir. (Unlimited openings. Informal interview audition required.)
St. Andrew’s Singers
St. Andrew’s Singers serve as vocal leadership for the Parish Choir. This ensemble serves as the outreach ensemble of St. Andrew’s. In addition to singing Choral Evensong, funerals, and weddings, they present musical offerings in greater KC, and beyond. Membership requires a formal interview audition, excellent music reading skills, and an outstanding voice quality that blends with current members. Attendance at all rehearsals is required, Wednesday, 6-7 p.m., September-May. (Limited openings. Formal interview audition required.)
Sunday School Singers
Students 3 years old through 5th grade participate in group singing during Children’s Church. These young singers also participate in worship as scheduled.
St. Andrew’s Ringers (COMING SOON)
Watch for future announcements regarding the formation of a handbell ensemble. Strong music reading skills are required for membership in this ensemble. (Limited openings. Informal interview required.)
