For over 25 years, a collective of dedicated parishioners from several churches have come together to provide warm winter clothing and a catered meal to Kansas Citians facing the challenges of winter without resources. This year, our Free store event will be during MLK weekend on Saturday, January 13th, at St. James Church (5540 Wayne Avenue KCMO). Nourish KC, an organization focused on food access and security in Kansas City, will provide a delicious lunch.
This event provides an immersive shopping experience for our guests. Each visitor or family is paired with a “personal shopper” to help them select items based on their needs and preferences. In recent years, we have transitioned to new clothing and accessories, allowing guests a dignified shopping experience. We also offer personal hygiene kits and gas gift cards, as we know these items are needed just as much as warm clothing.
