Summer Free Store-June 13th
11:00 am – 1:00 pm
St. James Church (55th & Paseo)
Building on the successful 25+ year legacy of Winter Free Store, we are pleased to announce the addition of a Summer Free Store this year on June 14th at St. James Church! We invite you to join us in spreading joy and hope to our neighbors during the summer season.
Consider being a part of this outreach by:
Contributing financially by purchasing new children’s underwear and t-shirts from our wishlist, or giving to support the purchase of hygiene items, and summer reading supplies for the children in our community.
Serving as a volunteer to help set up, distribute items at a table, and more. To express interest, please sign up here.
Praying for the children of Kansas City & their families.
Learning more about the event here, or visit the Jewell Room on June 7th.
Together we can continue to embody the spirit of generosity to support our community!

About Free Store
Free Store now has two events:
Winter Free Store, held in January on the Saturday of Martin Luther King weekend.
Summer Free Store, held in June on the Saturday of Juneteenth.
Free Store strives to meet the needs of neighbors in our community in a warm, loving environment. St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Grace and Holy Cathedral, St Augustine’s Episcopal Church and St James Church all work together to support Free Store. Both events are held at St James Church at 55th and Paseo in Kansas City, MO.
Winter Free Store provides new boots, socks, gloves, hats, coats, hygiene bags, and Quik Trip gift cards. Resource agencies are onsite as well. Our guests are served a hot breakfast by our volunteers. Typically more than 250 people attend this event.
Please contact Melissa Rock or Janet Kelley to learn more about Winter Free Store.
Summer Free Store is a new offering in 2025 with the focus on children and their families. We will provide new underwear and socks, gently used clothing, hygiene bags, diapers and wipes, along with books and summer educational materials with various resources agencies onsite as well. Grilled hamburgers/hot dogs will be served, along with Kona Ice. There will be games, face painting and a D.J. In addition, the Harvesters drive up Food Pantry will be open.
