Youth Ministry

Our youth ministry for 5th through 12th grade students is active in many areas of church life, including Acolytes, Scouts, and a Student Leadership Team.

Wherever you are in your faith, you belong here. Our youth ministry helps students build real friendships, understand and grow in their beliefs, and live out their faith with courage and joy. Youth connect through weekly gatherings, retreats, service projects, and leadership opportunities—like serving as acolytes, joining the student leadership team, or engaging in outreach.

For details or to talk about how you might participate, contact Mtr. Jean Long at jean@standrewkc.org or Veronica Wiebold at veronica@standrewkc.org

acolytes

Acolytes

Acolytes help lead worship by carrying the cross and candles, and by serving at the altar. Youth typically serve once a month, and many say the experience deepens their faith, enriches their understanding of worship, and helps them build friendships beyond their everyday circles.

student leadership

Student Leadership Program

Open to students in 10th–12th grade, this program helps youth strengthen leadership skills and grow in their faith. Student leaders meet once a month to plan and guide youth-group activities, serve as role models for younger students, and shape the life of our youth ministry.

Other Youth Ministry Activities

Christmas Tree Lot

The Youth Ministry’s annual fundraiser allows youth and parents who work the tree lot to “earn” money for their individual accounts to help pay for any church-related activities, including the winter ski trip, mission trips, or other diocesan youth events.

Winter Ski Retreat

The winter ski trip, usually held in February, is an annual weekend of skiing, games, and fellowship in the Colorado Rockies.

Scouts BSA

Since 1922, St. Andrew’s Troop 16 has been helping develop young leaders physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Our troop is extremely active; in addition to monthly campouts, the troop hosts the church’s annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and attends summer camp.
